Bio
Steve Mate, the founder and CEO of Mate Gauge, has been developing and building laser thickness measurement systems since 2006. Before founding Mate Gauge, he worked as a photonics engineer at Intelligent Photonics Control and Nortel Networks.
Mate Gauge began by creating complete thickness measurement systems for lead-acid battery manufacturers. Over the past fifteen years, we’ve engineered our systems to address various industry challenges.
We’re laser-focused on one thing: making the world’s flat products flatter. Our goal is to be the standard solution for industrial thickness gauging.
After years of deploying thickness measuring systems and closely working with our customers, Mate Gauge has introduced the Virtual Micrometer. The Virtual Micrometer puts all the power of laser thickness measuring into the context of the well known traditional micrometer, now with the added capability to measure material width. With the development of our custom mgApps, Mate Gauge has made its technology more accessible and relevant to battery manufacturers. In this presentation, we will describe the origins and design of the Virtual Micrometer, and how you can leverage this for continuous monitoring of lead strip and plate production
