Bio
Olga Karline Henkele is the Policy Manager at the Association of European Automotive and Industrial Battery Manufacturers (EUROBAT) in Brussels, Belgium. Olga specializes in coordinating the implementation and compliance with the EU Batteries Regulation, among others. Prior to joining EUROBAT, Olga worked at an EU public affairs consultancy and strategic advisory firm, focusing on EU trade, energy, and sustainability policies. She also gained valuable experience at the European Commission Directorate General for Mobility and Transport, where she worked on maritime safety and pollution prevention.
The presentation will explore the requirements for battery labelling and the introduction of digital battery passport under the Batteries Regulation. It will outline the regulatory demands and the implementation timeline, followed by an analysis of the challenges posed by extensive labelling and marking requirements. This includes the mandated symbols, languages, and disclosed substances, as well as the industry’s current response to these mandates. Additionally, the presentation will examine the progress and ongoing challenges related to the development of the battery passport, highlighting how the battery passport can unlock significant value across the entire value chain.
